Calgary Comic Expo 2017
It's that time of year again... Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo is here!
As always, I came to see the latest trends in cosplay fashion, and this year it definitely didn't disappoint! My personal favorite event from my day at the expo was 100% the "Kid's Costume Contest!" Nothing is cuter than seeing baby Ewoks!
I'm going to pass the writing duties over to my brother, Chase, who is a bit more well-briefed in comic culture than I am. Chase, this post is yours!

Hey everyone, I'm back, and this year's Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo was a DOOZY!!! Don't be fooled by the stage and extravagant light display, we weren't actually at a Justin Bieber concert... But more on that later!

We started the day strolling through the show floor, and as always, made our way by various stands of handmade weaponry. I hear archery is really hot right now. Unfortunately, we didn't stay long enough for Scorpion from Mortal Kombat's demonstration...

Making its grand return is the in-house tattoo station! Deadpool is still a cool and relevant superhero right? I wanted to get a tattoo of him on my neck, but it was a hard no from Chloe.

What a little snitch. Seriously though, BIG shoutout to Qudditch Alberta for taking the time to tell us a bit more about the real-life version of the sport! Definitely not as easy as Harry and Draco make it look like in the movies... MOVING ON!

For "Steampunks" and fashion bloggers alike, the Wrist Rack is an innovative life-changing device that re-defines what it means to go "hands-free"!! The Wrist Rack is available in two colours (brown and black) and accomodates many different smartphone sizes. Shipping and taxes not included.

For all of the "Overwatch" fans out there, here's the popular character Genji with his eight kids! Definitely didn't take him for a family kind of guy.

In the most authentic picture of the day, here is the Ka Muso Kai Dojo showcasing the art of Japanese swordsmanship. These guys are a Canada-wide non-profit organization that practices in Iaido, Jodo, Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu, and Kage Ryu martial arts styles.

Back to the Justin Bieber concert from earlier... Turned out we actually stepped into a Kid's Costume Contest! Definitely one of the highlights of our day. MASSIVE props to all of the kids who particpated and walked on the stage in front of hundreds of people!! The Transformers were my personal favourite.

Out of the 38 Harley Quinns we saw that day, this one was by far the cutest!

Nightmare Fuel... Audience still loved it though!

I think the Ewok was a pretty unanimous winner based on the roar coming from the crowd. Look at that little Ewok face, how can you NOT cheer!! The best part was that he didn't want to leave the stage, he was too busy soaking up all the applause.

OF COURSE we had to make our yearly trip to the "Tower of T-Shirts", which is still the tallest thing in the BMO Centre. Came out empty-handed this year unfortunately, there was just too much swag to buy and not enough trips to the ATM!

I lied... This is ACTUALLY the most authentic picture of the day. We thought it was pretty nice of Gisele to let Tom come to the Calgary Expo in his off-season, coming off of that huge Super Bowl victory! Dressed as himself, none the less.

Why drink out of normal glass when you can use a ceremonial drinking horn, JUST like the Vikings did? Leif Erikson style. I don't think "Ragnar The Trader" in the background was too impressed we only showed interest in his stuff for a photo op... We did it for the culture.

Chloe was really on that "Spencer Pratt Crystal" wave... You could guess what I told her when she asked if she should buy it. Sorry sis, Crystal Therapy is never going to happen.

On a more fashion-related note: "It's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one."

Ummmm hi there, this isn't a library. Just when we were ready to call it a wrap on the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo for 2017, Chloe felt the need to catch up on some "light" reading... CLEARLY she's more in-touch with the whole "comic culture" than she originally let on.
